Stars and Stripes Europe - Tattoo Magazine Issue
For this issue, I took photographs for the spread. It involved shooting twenty-eight people over the course of a month. I arranged shoots, styles, and concepts for each image which meant working with all of the volunteers until I found a style that worked for them. This issue was to honor the tattooed people in the military community.
Introduction section
This included my self portrait and bio at the start of the spread. It reads:
While Brittany Atkins has only been photographing for a year, she has been doing creative hobbies for most of her life. She spends most of her time engaged in theatrical activities at KMC Onstage where she builds sets, crafts props, and will be co-directing a musical this spring. She just graduated with her Associate degree from the University of Maryland and will be finishing her bachelor’s this winter with a degree in Graphic Communication. Brittany and her husband started photographing after taking a class together. Now they create fantasy-style photos and videos which they post to their Instagram and Facebook Art by Atkins.
Action photography
Sports photography was something I had never done before. It is about capturing the model in motion. He felt the most comfortable on a rugby pitch and I felt like this added character to the person behind the tattoos.
